About Pratima

Pratima Sonavne is a Danville mom, business owner, and the first in her family to run for public office. For more than 20 years she has built systems, managed operations, and served families every day. She has lived in Contra Costa County for 14 years and raised her family in Danville for 4 years, with an 18-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. She is running for Town Council to protect safe parks and trails, manageable traffic, strong schools, and the small-town feel that defines Danville — with practical solutions, careful spending, and decisions that put families first.

My Vision for Danville

A town this good doesn't stay this way by accident. It takes protecting what makes it unique, planning responsibly, and putting residents first.

Change is coming to Danville whether we plan for it or not — state housing mandates, a shifting downtown, new ways of getting around town. The question was never whether Danville changes. It's whether we're the ones steering it, or the ones explaining it after the fact.

The Plan — Seven Commitments

1. Growth & Traffic — Responsible growth, honest traffic analysis, and infrastructure that keeps pace with development. Every major development evaluated against the real, cumulative traffic picture.
2. Public Safety, E-Bikes & Pedestrian-First Spaces — Strong public safety, responsible e-bike use, pedestrian-first sidewalks and parks extended to residential streets, and firm action against dangerous behavior.
3. Preserving Danville — Manage change carefully, and protect the neighborhoods, downtown, open space, and quality of life that define Danville.
4. Downtown & Small Business — A thriving local economy, a welcoming downtown, and preservation of the character that makes Danville distinctive.
5. Transparency — Earlier notice, clearer information, meaningful public participation, and an open decision-making process. Residents heard before decisions are made, not after.
6. Fiscal Responsibility — Disciplined spending, prudent reserves, long-term planning, and responsible investment in the infrastructure residents depend on.
7. Town Council Term Limits — A firm, prospective 12-year lifetime cap on Town Council service, counted cumulatively across any terms served — no re-election after, no exceptions, applying equally to everyone, including Pratima.
